How to check. Remove low beam relay. Check continuity between pin 5 and fuses. (for me this was open). if good. remove fuses check continuity between head light socket and fuses. if this is good your problem is some where between your relay and head light switch. Man this keeps getting better and better.

First step is to check which lights are powered by the circuit protected by F34. Check the wiring diagram. I think they'll be the ceiling and door courtesy lights, maybe the boot light. Open up each light and check that the bulbs are properly installed and also the correct type & wattage. e.g. 10watt@12v festoon.

Ok the 2 fuses to check is located in rear of the glovebox, which you will need to remove to access the fuse panel. Fuse F133 & F134 are just to the right of dead centre of the fuse box, mounted vertically. They should be full size blade fuses in the MK2 series. F133 is the passenger side and a 25A fuse, F134 is the driver side and a 20A fuse.
